“Charles Christofle founded the company that bears his name in 1830. Originally a jeweler, he bought the patents for silvering and gilding by electrolysis in 1842. Now a goldsmith, he sublimates ceremonial items and everyday objects: from jewelry to cutlery, from goldsmithing to statuary, from decorative objects to tableware. This is how, even today, silver still covers an entire art of living with its shine. “
“The Cardeilhac house was founded by Antoine-Vital Cardeilhac who ran it from 1804 to 1851 at 4 rue du Roule then 91 rue de Rivoli. His son Armand-Edouard Cardeilhac took over between 1851 and 1885 at the first address. Ernest Cardeilhac took over the management of the Maison Cardeilhac in 1885. When he died in 1904, his two sons Jacques and Pierre took over at 34 Place Vendôme until 1951 when the company was bought by the Christofle house.”
