"The company was founded in Paris in 1810 by Mr. Boulenger-Hautin, active until 1938, specializing in tableware. In 1864 it was taken over by the founder's nephew, Adolphe Boulenger, and became "A. Boulenger & Cie" located at 4 rue du Vertbois in Paris. His son, Charles Boulenger, took over after his father's death in 1898 and the company became "Ch. Boulenger & Cie". Boulenger was one of the leading Parisian goldsmiths of the 19th and early 20th centuries. His reputation allowed the company to become the main supplier of silverware to the French Navy. It also obtained contracts to supply silverware from the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT) for its largest liners, such as the Normandie, in competition with Christofle."
