Portico Clock Charles X 1840 Barbet

Magnificent Charles X period portico clock circa 1840, stamped on its mechanism "Barbet, establishment of Paris", clockmaker referenced in the Tardy, dictionary of French clockmakers. Wooden architecture four columns covered with a rosewood veneer decorated with lemon wood with a rich and fine marquetry with floral pattern distributed on the facade as well as on its four columns.

The whole has benefited from a tampon varnish providing shine, contrast, luminosity and protection.
The upper and lower cornice are dyed white, bronze of very good quality, mercury gilding with gold.

The columns are each equipped with a base and capital finely chiseled with kidneys and water leaves.
Large silvered bronze dial whose numbers are engraved and filled with black paint, the dial is highlighted by a thick bezel chiseled with fruits, shells and ribbons.
Imposing pendulum occupying the space between the columns finely chiseled with scrolls, pearls, shells and flowers.

Original mechanism without modification. Ringing from the hour and a half on an old bell.
