"Brussels 1749, Chocolate Pot, Sterling Silver, Aj De Hondt"
Lovely and sumptuous chocolate pot in solid silver dating from the Louis XV period but still totally imbued with the Regency style. It is in perfect condition. On the bottom we find the master goldsmith's mark of Antoine Jean De Hondt, who became a master in 1741 and remained active until his death in 1793. Which gave him an exceptionally long career for a goldsmith under the Ancien Régime. Also present are the two hallmarks of the city of Brussels (the head of Saint-Michel and the coat of arms of Brabant) and the letter pawn date X for the year 1749. The fifth hallmark called "de grâce" is an extremely rare hallmark, struck on all objects that were still in the workshops of a goldsmith at the time of the hallmarking reform imposed by Empress Marie-Therese in 1749. The chocolate pot weighs 950 grams
