- In addition to its more than happy proportions, this obelisk is distinguished by its faces decorated with colored marbles whose veins form accidents that are very pleasing to the eye. These marble inlays are limited to geometric shapes that are alternately round and polygonal. These patterns accommodate the slender shape of the obelisk by flattening in proportion to the narrowing of the faces; the square becoming a diamond and the disk an ellipse. The white marble, which bears the seal of the purest Antiquity, allows the preciousness and polychromy of these polished stones to be highlighted. The round shapes contain brightly colored marbles while the polygonal ones welcome softer and more muted shades. These alternations of shapes and bright/pastel colors punctuate each of the faces. Among the marbles used, we find in particular (from bottom to top) the Portor (with its golden yellow veins which undulate on a deep black background), the Violet of Violette, the Red of Vitrolles, the Yellow of Siena.
- Raised thanks to four gilded bronze balls, this obelisk is mounted on a rectangular base also in marble.
- Good state of conservation, a lack is to be noted in the upper part at the level of the pyramidion as well as a small chip on an edge.
- Dimensions: Height: 53.5 cm, Width of the base: 12.3 cm
