"American Abstract Expressionism School (1960s) - Composition "
- Oil on paper. - The dominant colours of this collection are deep greys, haunting blacks and bright yellows, which coexist in a tense, sometimes chaotic balance. Greys are often used to suggest heaviness or melancholy, creating dark and almost claustrophobic spaces. They are interspersed with flashes of black, which accentuate a certain violence of forms, a feeling of impossibility of any escape. Black, by its density, seems to suck in the light and capture the energy of the work, making the pictorial space oppressive. The touches of yellow, sometimes bright, sometimes more subtle, bring a glimmer of destabilizing energy in the midst of this darkness. This yellow can appear in the form of large splashes of paint, or materialize in nervous, almost violent strokes, which cross the canvas like flashes of light in a sea of darkness. This striking contrast between the warmth of yellow and the coldness of gray and black evokes a visual battle, a tension that captivates and disorients the viewer. - Framed image dimensions: 65 x 50 cm / 75 x 60 cm with frame
