Object description :

"Rare Royal Worcester, Kerr & Binns Period, Figurine: Child With Amphora, 1857"
This rare Royal Worcester porcelain figurine, crafted during the Kerr & Binns period (1852–1862), features a young child or cherub seated on a rocky base while holding a classical amphora. Made from porcelain with a smooth ivory finish, characteristic of Royal Worcester's production during this era, the piece is adorned with a gilded sash and amphora, with elegant gilded accents harmonising beautifully with the overall design. The textured rocky base adds a naturalistic touch to the composition.

Historical background:
Royal Worcester, established in 1751 in Worcester, England, is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious porcelain manufacturers. The Kerr & Binns period (1852–1862) was a transformative decade, during which William Kerr and Richard Binns introduced technical advancements that set the company apart. This period saw the development of ivory-like porcelain finishes enhanced with gilding and the pioneering of Parian porcelain, a marble-like ceramic used for sculptural pieces. Figurines from this era are highly collectible for their historical and artistic significance.
