"Ghent 1758, Chocolate Maker, Sterling Silver, Pieter Colle Ii, Gent, Chocoladekan Zilver"
Lovely Louis XV period solid silver chocolate pot in solid silver. The body is entirely decorated with twisted sides, it rests on three lion claw feet. The fretel of its lid unscrews to insert the frother or mixing stick when used as a chocolate pot. On the bottom are very legible, four hallmarks of the city of Ghent for the vintage 1758 and of the master goldsmith Pieter Colle (1731-1802), second of the name among the Ghent goldsmiths. The spout is covered with a flap decorated with a shell. Possibly the hinge that allows this small lid to be lifted . It weighs a very generous 1240 grams
