"Travel Kit Chopsticks Knife Metal Marquetry Japan Meiji 19th Century"
Travel kit including ivory (or bone) chopsticks and a knife, carved ivory handle and steel blade, tortoiseshell and gilded metal case or scabbard with marquetry decoration of several animals (horses), from Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) 19th century. This case is in good general condition. Please note: wear from use on the knife handle, some snags and traces of oxidation on the blade, some slight accidents on the tortoiseshell scabbard, wear from time, look carefully at the photos. Specimen in worked ivory, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc.
