Cult altar showing a seated king with his two hands symbolically placed on the heads of his two heirs, his power personified by three caryatids of powerful and massive proportions. Hardwood with a thick crusty patina resulting from the numerous offerings and ritual libations in situ. Old marks of use. Urhobo, southern Nigeria, late 19th early 20th century.
