"Cabinets Called “du Ried” Alsace 1814"
This 18th century piece of furniture, made of fir and with a central divider, is typical of the wardrobes known as "from Ried" (region around Sélestat in the Bas-Rhin) and Colmar (Haut-Rhin). In the homes of modest people, there was a single-leaf wardrobe, while in wealthy circles, the wardrobes had 2 doors. The joinery is worked with Louis XIV panels on several levels and moldings. The sides are cut with rudentée grooves. Grooves are also visible on the front. The cornice is flat but large and well molded. The assembly is done by keys located on the top and bottom of the wardrobe which allowed for transport. The fittings, typical of Alsace, are in hand-forged "pigtail". H 175 cm x W 150 cm x D 60 cm
