Virgin with Child and St. John 17th century Italian religious oil on canvas painting with a good, balanced and harmonious composition centered by the Child wrapped in white drapery and painted with already adult facial features and gaze, turned to look at St. John who embraces him adoringly. The Virgin with cropped hair wears a dress with soft purple and ultramarine drapery and a bold neckline, holds the Child on her lap inside an undefined setting with a window open to a hilly landscape with architecture in the background.
The painting is in good age related condition; it has been cleaned and shows some restorations.17th century Italian Lombard school and comes from a private collection, set in a beautiful gilded gold-leaf of 1800s.
