Small Strawberry Service Georges Sand Manufacture Creil Montereau Fine Earthenware

Part of a dinner service from the Creil Montereau earthenware factory, made popular by the writer Georges Sand when she ordered some for her castle in Nohant. All the pieces bear the brand "creil montereau Fraise Lm et Cie". The Creil Montereau factory was born from the merger of two competing companies, that of Creil in Oise and Montereau in Seine-et-Marne. They came together in 1840 under the same company name: Lebeuf Milliet et compagnie. The dinner service was therefore created between 1840 and 1876, the year of the writer's death. It has ceramic pieces with a plant decoration of flowering strawberry plants on each of its wings. This part of the service is made up of two bowls (fruit or compotier h. 10 cms and 6 cms) and four plates (diameter 21 cms), one of which has chips. These earthenwares bear the traces of time.
