Abstract avant-garde composition created in 1934 by the American artist Charles Bert (born 1873 in Milwaukee - died in Lyme, Connecticut, USA). Student of the Cincinnati Art Gall., the Art League in New York and the Académie Julian in Paris. A similar composition by Bert was sold at various auctions in the USA and Switzerland (by the auction house Dobiaschofsky on 5.11.1999, lot 345). Literature: Hans Vollmer "Lexicon of 20th Century Artists" (in German), Seemann, Leipzig, 1953 Provenance: French private collection. Inscription: signed Bert and dated (19)34. Technique: Gouache on cardboard, unframed. Dimensions: l 8 1/8” x h 9 7/8“ (20.3 x 25 cm). Condition: good condition, wear consistent with age and use.
