Eldest son of the above; studied from 1859 to 1867 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna as a pupil of his father. After receiving the Reichel Prize (1869), Ruben went to Rome and, after a short stay in Vienna, to Venice in 1874, which he did not leave until the outbreak of war in 1914. His paintings mainly show life in Venice. From 1870 he was a member of the Vienna Association of Fine Arts, having participated in their exhibitions since 1868. R., who was awarded a medal at the World Exhibition in Vienna (1873) and in Munich (1883), was an honorary member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.
