Gilt bronze

Good overall condition, shows minor cracks and shortages
Pair of 19th century French gilt bronze sculptures resting on circular wooden bases, depicting Autumn and Spring.
The allegories are personified by two winged cupids holding a candle-bearing torch.
The works bear the signature of Ernest Rancoulet (1870-1915), a renowned French bronze artist and sculptor, famous for his neoclassical bronze figures of mythological creatures, high society women and athletes.
He was a student at Lequesne and attended the municipal school in Bordeaux. Rancoulet participated in the Paris Salon for several years, regularly exhibiting his elegant statues and portrait busts.
