Our photograph shows a scene in a Japanese interior; a samurai, his katana at his side, greets two women who have come to visit him.
This print is the work of Kusakabe Kimbei, an illustrious photographer and colorist based in Yokohama, a student of Felice Beato and Baron Raimund von Stillfried.
Print on albumen paper enhanced by hand at the time and mounted on cardboard in the format 25 x 33 cm.
