Stefano Donadoni (1844–1911) was an Italian painter born on October 1, 1844, near Bergamo. He began his artistic training with Andrea Marenzi, an academic painter and student of P. Ronzoni. Additionally, he was influenced by the naturalist painter Costantino Rosa.
Early Career and Success
In 1881, Donadoni successfully participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Milan, where he presented three realist works: Ancient Bergamo, Chevrier, and Palazzo della Ragione. In 1882, he moved with his family to Rome and exhibited the following year at the Exhibition of Fine Arts in Rome, showcasing works such as The Church of San Salvatore, The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, and The Colleoni Chapel in Bergamo.

Donadoni was renowned for his precise watercolors of monuments and cityscapes, particularly Roman ruins and architectural landscapes. His body of work includes approximately 400 watercolors that meticulously depict monuments. Many of his works are preserved in the Palazzo Braschi and the Gabinetto Comunale delle Stampe in Rome.
