"Colored Engraving – Cavalier Plan Of The City Of Grenoble – 17th Century."
View of the city of Grenoble in a "cavalier plan", that is to say seen from above. The original of this representation, made by F. Hogenberg, dates from 1588. This one is a 17th century copy, which was probably contained in a work dedicated to the Dauphiné. Presence of a cartouche in Latin at the bottom of the engraving: "Gratioanopolis, a colony of Acusiana or Acusianorum Colonia, a formidably fortified city in Gallia Narbonensis, on the Isère, today called Grenoble".
Very good condition, without stain. Framed under glass in a modern black lacquered wooden frame.
