The apparent reserves, the color palette and the knife technique are totally characteristic of the works of CHARRETON, who here depicted a "house in autumn".
IMPORTANT: The painting is referenced in the catalogue raisonné of Victor CHARRETON, volume I, under number 472 (it indicates a public sale in June 1992 in Lyon, directed by Maître ANAF - see last photo).
Coming from a wealthy family, his law studies led him to initially become a lawyer at the Lyon Court of Appeal.
He made his debut in 1894 at the Salon of the Lyon Society of Fine Arts.
In 1902, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting. In 1903, he co-founded the "salon d'automne" with Pierre BONNARD and regularly became president of exhibition juries.
A painter highly sought after by collectors, his works are exhibited in many museums: Carcassonne, Lyon, Murol, Grenoble, Clermont-Ferrand, Bourgoin-Jallieu...
He obviously reachs high quotations, his paintings regularly selling for several tens of thousands of euros.
