CENZI proposal for you is :  Sculpture depicting two angels fighting for the heart    French Artwork entirely hand-sculpted with hammer and chisel, bears the signature of Falconet (Etienne-Maurice Falconet 1716-1791)   It was probably sculpted by one of his followers in the 1800s   EPOCH: XIX° sec DIMENSIONS: 50cm height • 30cm • 23cm • 10kg   CONDITION: VERY GOOD!  (Small marks and original patina present) Probably Restoration and little marks.   Description: A master of 19th-century French sculpture, Etienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791) created this composition for the Marquise de Pompadour. This masterpiece is an allegorical subject depicting two winged loves arguing over a fallen heart.  The two cherubs in motion and full of life are crafted with finesse... Touching, the two cherubs seem focused on their mission.  Their downcast eyes give them a naive air that moves.  With a serious face surrounded by soft hair accompanied by curls, they appear determined. The plump and naked bodies recall the joys and innocence of childhood.  Graceful wings, a bow, arrows and a garland of flowers perfectly illustrate the artist's theme of love.
