Circa 1860-1870 France Beautiful wedding waistcoat of an elegant man of the Second Empire in cream damask silk and shaped with cashmere palmettes. Shawl collar, five matching button closure and three real pockets on the front. Original back in white cotton twill with metal tightening buckle (slight oxidation at the buckle). Fully lined with cream cotton twill (slight stains). The cream silk fashion is very clever with small herringbone patterns in the background and ribbed palmettes highlighted with flowers! No defects to report apart from a very light period patina. No stains or holes. Very good condition of conservation and color. Wearable today. Dimensions: Equivalent to women's size 36. height 51 cm, waist 77 cm, shoulders 38 cm, chest 86 cm. This waistcoat can be worn by a man provided the back is redone.
