"Robert Legumier Marseille Faience From The 18th Century"
BEAUTIFUL AND INTERESTING VEGETABLE DISH IN MARSEILLE ROBERT EARTHENWARE FROM THE 18TH CENTURY, THE NUMBER 5 INCISED UNDER THE LID AND THE BASE ITSELF MARKED WITH A GREEN DOT; THE LID HAS REMARKABLE PICNIC SCENES, TESTIMONY OF THE TABLE ARTS OF THE TIME. WE CAN SEE GLASS BOTTLES AND THEIR LABELS, PITCHERS PROBABLY IN SILVER-GILT AS WELL AS A LARGE BLUE ENAMEL EARTHENWARE DISH, THE OTHER SIDE WITH A BASKET OF FISH AND FRUIT. THE LID AND THE BASE ARE BROKEN IN THREE AND RESTORED, ONLY THE WHITE ENAMEL HAS BEEN REVARNISHED EXCLUDING THE TABLOTINS. THE TAIL OF THE RED MULLET AND THE ENDS OF THE ALGAE WERE MISSING.
