He was notably a student of Fernand Cormon, Émile Renard and P. Laurens. Known for his portraits, he also produced industrial landscapes of the North as well as exotic, orientalist scenes. He accumulated artistic prizes, exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français and decorated the National Bank for Commerce and Industry in Amiens as well as the governor's palace in Dakar.
