Elegant and beautiful antique fireplace in Napoleon III style in Carrara Blanc-Statuary marble. Carrara Statuary is soft-toned white with no veins at all. Dating from the end of the 19th century, ca.1870-1875, the construction-period of the house. Double moulded shelf. It jambs are decorated with flutes and small asparagus-heads. The frieze is decorated with a central panel, depicting Acanthus leaves. End-blocks on top are nicely carved with leaves of the oack-tree. It is in very good, original condition.
