Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer 17th century Flowers in a vase !!! Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer (born January 12, 1636 in Lille, died February 20, 1699 in London) – French flower painter of the Baroque period. He studied in Antwerp. In 1665 he became a member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. He created decorations for many palaces of magnates (including Vaux-le-Vicomte) and royal residences (including Versailles). In 1685 he went to England, where he remained until the end of his life. His floral compositions show the influence of Flemish art (mainly Rubens). The painters were his two sons: Antoine Monnoyer and Baptiste Monnoyer.
