Oil on canvas signed, located and dated

Here is a magnificent representation of The flood of the Seine made by Pierre Chapuis in January 1910.

Under the gaze of passers-by, the quays are completely flooded and a plough boat is carried away by the current. Often referred to as a centennial flood. It gave rise to the most significant flooding known to the Seine.
The flood affected most of its valley and, although it was not very deadly, the phenomenon caused significant damage to the regional economy, particularly in Paris.

On January 28, the Seine reached its maximum level of 8.62 meters on the hydrometric scale of the Pont d'Austerlitz in Paris. The flood affected many districts of the capital and many towns along the river for several weeks before and after this date.
The waters rose in about ten days, and receded in about 35 days.
