Circa 1860-1880 France or England Beautiful square shawl in damask silk taffeta and printed with two different designs inspired by the so-called four-season shawls. Design with architectural and harlequined coffers mixing stylized palmettes, vermiculated borders in a neo-gothic style related in France to the work of Eugène Viollet-Le-Duc. Very fine flowing silk with plain weave and twill damask design, giving a very complex and clever effect. Beautiful green-yellow, pink, black, sky blue and pale yellow colors. Fringes tied in cream cords on the four sides. Rare micro halos, and two or three tiny needle holes. No other defects to report. Wearable today. Good condition of color and conservation. Uncommon piece. Dimensions: 150 cm x 150 cm and 10 cm of fringes.
