CF Wikipedia: Frédéric-Charles Victor de Vernon, called Frédéric de Vernon or Frédéric Vernon, born November 17, 1858 in Paris and died October 28, 1912 in Morsang-sur-Orge1, is a French sculptor and medallist2. He generally signs F. VERNON. Frédéric de Vernon was a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studios of Jules Cavelier (1814-1894), Jules-Clément Chaplain (1839-1909) and Paulin Tasset (born in 1839). In 1881, he won the first second grand prix de Rome and in 1887, the first grand prix de Rome in medal and fine stone engraving, after which he spent three years at the Villa Medici in Rome. A member of the Society of French Artists since 1896, he was elected a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1909. His students included Pierre Turin. His son Jean de Vernon (1897-1975) was also a French engraver, medallist and sculptor. An engraving prize bears his name and that of his son Jean, the Frédéric-et-Jean-de-Vernon prize.
