"Hannya Wooden Netsuke - Japan"
Netsuke, button for attaching objects to the belt (obi) of the kimono. Carved wood in the shape of the Noh mask of the character Hannya. This piece is part of the "mennetsuke" which represents masks. Hannya is a female demon of the noh theater. A light line is visible on the netsuke. Japan, Edo era (18th century), 7.1 x 4.8 x 2.9 cm.
