LALOU Frank (1958) "The movement of the book is that of loving waves ..." 1989 Ink calligraphy on paper, dated and signed 29x64 cm Multidisciplinary artist, painter, calligrapher, poet, essayist, Frank LALOU has been practicing calligraphy since the early 80s. He has illustrated or calligraphed many texts, notably for the William Blake & Co and Fata Morgana editions. Since 1986, he has composed unique books, entirely calligraphed by hand. Some of these manuscripts have been acquired by public institutions such as the Library of Congress in Washington, the National Library of France or the Museum of Modern Art in Céret. He has exhibited in numerous galleries, bookstores, galleries or cultural centers in France and abroad. An artist imbued with great spirituality, he was very influenced by Arabic calligraphy and particularly the Kufic style. Throughout his career, he turned towards Hebrew calligraphy, of which he is today one of the greatest representatives. The work that we present to you, dated 1989, is part of the first decade of his career.
