Artist: Edouard Macavoy (1905/1991)
Oil on canvas signed Mac Avoy and dated 1943. A student of Paul Albert Laurens at the Académie Julian, he frequented the house of Félix Vallotton where he met Bonnard and Vuillard who were interested in his work. At 19, he sold his first painting to the French State which was exhibited at the Musée du Luxembourg. Mac-Avoy was president of the Salon d'Automne for more than 30 years, until his death in 1991.
