Charles Dominique Fouqueray (1869-1956): "A street in Hue", oil on panel 19 X 24 cm, mounted in a pretty red and gold fretwork frame from the period 32 X 37 cm (wear). Located and dated 12 3 1921 on the back. Wet stamp of the signature at the bottom left. The immense artist, Painter of the Navy, traveled all over the world, including the Basque Country! If the historicist vein of his work is often present on the market, I prefer his contemporary portraits and landscapes, like here, this view of Hue in Vietnam, teeming with life with its street vendors offering their products to customers on the ground.
