"Japanese Furniture"
Japanese furniture from the early 20th century. It is made up of two parts. On the upper part, on the front (of drawers), a scene representing a myth from the Shinto religion, the trick of the Gods to make the goddess of the sun, Amaterasu Omikami, come out of the cave where she had isolated herself, plunging the world into darkness: dance, music, tree covered in jewels... Gilded, red-brown decorations. The inside of the drawers is lacquered black and gilded. Gilded mesh decoration on the base (some missing parts), metal handles and copper plates with leafy patterns. At the top, between the scrolls, a scene of a mountain, lake, boats, tree and characters. In the lower part, the table is mainly decorated with birds. Flaking lacquer.
