"Ewer, Water Jug, Silver, Louis XVI, Paris 1788"
Silver ewer, it rests on a circular pedestal molded with stepped fillets, the baluster body is engraved with rosettes on an amati background, garlands of ivy, flowers and a knotted ribbon holding a medallion under the spout, the hinged lid is topped with a beautiful leafy fretel, the handle is scrolled. Paris 1788, Master goldsmith Louis-Joseph Bouty known as Mirreraud Bouty received on January 30, 1779. Weight 880g - Height 26 cm Condition, very good, traces of use, it is hallmarked in the lid and under the base. It has lost its basin. A similar ewer by the same goldsmith and from the same year is reproduced in "Orfèvrerie Française" p 74. There is a very slight difference, I'll let you look for it... Rare and of high quality.
