Idka Cohen
Born in 1928 in Istanbul, she came with her family to France, to Paris in 1931, and suffered the years of war and occupation. Her family benefits from a return to Istanbul in one of the 8 trains of early 1944. She continues her studies at the French High School in Istanbul.
Peace returned, the family returns to Paris, Idka continues her studies and passes her baccalaureate.
Idka is interested in drawing and painting, it is the latter that wins, she takes courses and over time she acquires everything that makes her painting today.
In 1947, she was for four years the student of Pierre Jérôme (prize of Rome), who introduced her to composition, perspective and the technique of oil painting.
In 1949, marriage in Paris. Acquires French nationality.
In 1955, she exhibited for the first time at the Salon d'Automne where she was noticed by the New York painting merchant G. Meyer, who bought a large number of paintings from her. She has since exhibited regularly at various trade fairs (Tokyo, Jerusalem, Munich, Montreal)
In 1959, she won the International Neumann Prize and exhibited at the Galerie Art Vivant in Paris.
In 1960, Othon Friesz Prize.
In 1967, members of the O.T.A.N. buy many paintings that they take to the United States and that they will exhibit at the White House, two paintings are bought and permanently exhibited in the salons of the Embassy of the United States in Paris .
In 2011, Prix Maxime Juan Fondation Taylor.
Idka devotes her art not only to France, great traveler New York, Venice, London, Prague, Iceland, Brazil have inspired many paintings
