Tabriz rug circa 1950 - 1960 in hand-knotted kork wool in Iran.
This piece measures 228 cm wide x 330 cm long and is in very good condition with a superb decoration.
This rug is clean, the soft and thick kork wool beautifully knotted is very tight.
It reveals nuances full of contrasts, a field and abundantly worked borders.
Shades of red, pale blue, straw yellow and ivory highlight this clever floral design in the great tradition of Persian art, inspired by the miniatures of the Tabriz school, then capital of the Persian Empire. The fringes are clean and in good condition, they pleasantly finish this very high quality carpet. Kork wool is the softest of wools, taken under the belly and neck of lambs. This carpet dates from the 1950s - 1960s, is in very good condition, showing slight wear. The borders, essential elements of carpets, are for our model, of a rare elegance. Its quality and its tones are very beautiful. These carpets are sometimes treated with animal fat (lanolin), which makes them silky and shiny. This carpet has an intense color, the dark red tone very present and dominant, reinforces the designs and other nuances Tabriz (Azerbaijani: Təbriz/ تبریز, formerly Tauris), is the capital of the province of East Azerbaijan, in the northwest of Iran (Iranian Azerbaijan). It is located on the course of the Talkheh River (also called Aji-Chāi), near Lake Urmia, near the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Tabriz is the gateway to Persia from north to west, Tabriz carpets have an extreme importance in the quality of Persian carpets and a wonderful international reputation. The Tabriz are among the most prized carpets in the world, their work is always very fine and durable over time.
The decor of the Tabriz has radiated all the carpet producing countries, so much the cardboards of these carpets are of high quality.
This carpet has been cleaned professionally and ecologically.
