Important and beautiful Louis XVI period cartel clock, 18th century, signed Nicolas-Antoine Le Nepveu (1736-1796). We present a very beautiful Louis XVI period cartel clock around 1780 in gilded bronze sculpted with foliage, a faun's head and a fire pot. Private collection. Dimensions: h.90cm x l.47 cm. In very good working order (posterior hands from the Empire period). History: Nicolas-Antoine Le Nepveu (1736-1796) supplied clocks as a free worker around 1767. In 1773, he became an accomplished master clockmaker, "by privilege of the Trinity Hospital". He worked in the rue de Salkle au Compte and in the rue Malgoire.
