"Mural Painting Representing Saint John XIX"
Wall painting depicting Saint John the Evangelist with his attributes (the pen, the gospel and the eagle) at the time he wrote the Gospel of St. John. He is often depicted as a young man but here he is painted on the day the gospel was written in his old age. Painting saved from certain destruction, this representation of the apostle has the codes of the Byzantine era for the background but the attitudes of the 19th century for the drapes. "The flower of the Gospels" is how we define the Gospel written by Saint John, also known as the spiritual Gospel or Gospel of the logos, because of its refined theological language and the characteristic mark of the polysemic term "Logos" to name Jesus.
