"Andre-pierre Lupiac : "nude In The Open Air""
André-Pierre Lupiac (1873-1956): "Nude en plein air", oil on cardboard 15.5 X 21.5 cm, mounted in a small gilded frame 19 X 25 cm. Titled on the back. Numerous material losses, fortunately on the less important parts. The Artist, a Toulouse co-founder of the Société des Artistes Méridionaux, had a body of work populated with satyrs and nymphs, mythological scenes or allegories, and retained from his Parisian studies with Laurens and Benjamin-Constant (other Toulouse natives!) a habit of working on the Living Model. An old gentleman once told me that as a child, with his friends, he would cut through the woods and fields to go and feast his eyes while contemplating the beautiful ladies with generous curves through the studio windows!
