"Alabaster Statue From The Antique "aphrodite Surprised In The Bath" Or "venus De Lely"" "
Pretty alabaster sculpture from the end of the 19th century based on Hellenistics representing "Aphrodite surprised in the Bath", also called "Venus de Lely", the original from the 2nd century is kept at the British Museum.Venus is depicted naked, kneeling. Surprised, she looks to her right, her right hand hides her thighs, her right hand goes up to her left shoulder to hide her chest. Its curves are graceful, and its headdress is beautifully sculpted. Behind her is an overturned jug.
Good general condition, note one edge of the base, on the back has been broken and glued back on, you can see it in the photos.
