Very beautiful oil on canvas by Nicolas FONVILLE (1805-1856), signed lower right, representing a landscape probably of Ain, Isère or Lyonnais. A student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in LYON, he was a student of Augustin THIERRAT and Jean DUCLAUX. He traveled to Italy, stayed a year in Rome and Switzerland. But he quickly returned to his native region and specialized in views of Lyon and its surroundings in oil, watercolor and charcoal. He is also an excellent lithographer. The canvas is very bright and of good dimensions with its frame: 40 x 54 cm. Original canvas. Beautiful old gilded frame.
