Biography:
Guillaume CHAYE (1956-) is a self-taught French sculptor-ceramicist. He began in lithography in 1974 after training in a Parisian workshop. He applied himself to it until 1986, renewing his work through the various trips he made to North America and Afghanistan. He discovered the art of ceramics during a stay in Barcelona a year later. Self-taught, he approached the earth with a new eye. Using the technique called "à la plaque", he models animal-human characters. His enameling technique in a range of oxides and patinas gives each piece, in the round, an increasingly sought-after depth. His works are among private collections around the world. He lives and works in Morbihan, on the island of Groix.
