BLADE: it is a flat blade, from Solingen, with a counter-edge at the last 18 cm. On each side, there are two thin grooves near the back, which correspond to blades made in the 17th and 18th centuries.
On the external side from the handle: trophy of arms, charging hussar, "VIVAT HUSAR" banner, and face in the sun.
On the internal side: trophy of arms, charging hussar, and representation of the moon with face, surrounded by stars. Both sides have oxidation spots after the engravings.
Blade length = 79.5 cm, width near the guard = 3.8 cm, thickness near the guard 8 mm
MOUNTING: Brass guard, with right-angled guard branch knuckle bow, which joins the cap and is attached to it by a hook. Rounded symmetrical lugs, straight quillon ending in a rounded pyramid ball. Guard branch with a small chiseled exterior decoration.
On the cap with a long tail, we find the number 20 followed by an 8 or a barred S. I have no idea what this marking means...
The grip is covered with leather in very good condition, and the original triple twisted copper wire binding, in fairly good condition but which is slightly mobile.
SCABBARD: It is made of wood covered with leather, with brass splints. Scabbard entrance, intermediate piece and chape in brass, sizes cut into braces. Oxidized iron dart.
In summary, this is a pleasant sabre of a "houzard" from one of the 6 regiments of the Ancien Régime, which probably continued its life on the battlefields of the time. We are here in the presence of a personal model of an officer, which is therefore different from the regulatory models 1777 and "An IV" and probably earlier, given its blade shape.
