The lid boasts a woven basket-like relief texture, complemented by floral designs and topped with a rose-shaped finial. This exquisite piece carries no marks, as Richard Ginori did not use marking stamps until the 1950s.
Richard Ginori is one of Italy's most renowned porcelain manufacturers, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and timeless designs. Established in 1735 by Marquis Carlo Ginori in Doccia, near Florence, it is one of Europe's oldest porcelain factories. Known for its artistic creativity, the brand became synonymous with luxury and elegance.
During the 19th century, the factory catered to European aristocracy and collectors, producing both functional and decorative porcelain. Popular themes included floral designs, mythological subjects, and neoclassical influences. Notably, in the 20th century, the brand collaborated with famed designer Gio Ponti, who served as artistic director during the 1920s and 1930s.
In 2013, Richard Ginori was acquired by the Gucci Group, ushering in a new era of creativity and revival under Alessandro Michele, then creative director of Gucci. Today, Richard Ginori remains a symbol of Italian luxury and artistry, with its porcelain highly prized by museums and collectors worldwide.
