An allegorical title page in frontispiece engraved by FM de la Cave, 8 folding maps, 14 folding genealogical tables and 7 portraits of kings and magnificent title bands. Very good condition. Paul Rapin de Thoyras is a French historian. His Protestant religion forced him to leave France the day after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. He left for England and Holland where he fought for the Prince of Orange. He was the first French historian of English institutions before Montesquieu.
