"Rare Uniform 7th Hussar Second Empire Napoleon / Nominative Set, Museum Provenance"
Exceptional troop uniform of the 7th Hussar Regiment from the Second Empire period that belonged to the hussars Guillaume Ripert (dolman) and Charles Balland (trousers).
This extremely rare set comes from the sale in 2003 of the Bourbon-Lancy Military Museum, former collection of Mr. Gabriel Cimetière.
The set consists of:
1/ Troop dolman of the 7th Hussar Regiment, 1860 model in dark green wool cloth with 18 golden yellow braids. Golden yellow braid. Scarlet sleeve turn-ups and collar. Original canvas lining with the regimental stamp of the 7th Hussar and dated 1st quarter 1863.
The dolman is also numbered 3364 corresponding to the hussar Guillaume Ripert, born March 20, 1838 in Avignon. Guillaume Ripert was incorporated on November 15, 1857. He took part in the Algerian campaign from 1857 to 1858 then in the Italian campaign in 1859 for which he was decorated. He served in the 2nd squadron then in the small staff and was transferred to the reserve on October 5, 1863.
Good general condition of the dolman. A few small tears, a few small moth holes and wear. The upper braid of the collar has been restored. Canvas lining in fairly good condition. Interior leather belt in bad condition (tears). Missing 2 buttons.

2/ Straight troop ordinance trousers of the 7th Hussar Regiment, 1860 model in scarlet cloth with double gold yellow braid and dark-green piping. The trousers are stamped with the regimental stamp of the 7th Hussars on the inner lining and dated the 2nd quarter of 1863.
They are also numbered 4119 corresponding to the hussar Charles Balland, born in Nomeny in Lorraine. Charles Balland was incorporated on June 24, 1859 as a conscript of the class of 1858. A 1st class hussar in August 1860, he was named brigadier in January 1861. He served in the 6th then the 4th squadrons. He was transferred to the reserve on October 31, 1865.
Trousers in fairly good general condition. Dirt, tears, restorations, licks and moth holes.

3/ An old mannequin made by Fery-Boudrot in Paris. Very realistic head: glass eyes, hair and moustache.  White gloves and leather shoes (later period).

The biographical information mentioned above comes from the catalogue of the sale of the Bourbon-Lancy Military Museum / Gabriel Cimetière collection of May 2003 in Angers by Branger Arènes Auction.
