"Martial's Epigrams, Amsterdam, Circa 1670"
Small volume (in 12), published in Amsterdam in the second half of the 17th century, containing the epigrams of Martial. These are small poems, composed between 85 and 102 AD, by a Knight of the Roman aristocracy, a little penniless, in a satirical mode. This collection had a strong impact during the Renaissance and the 17th century. It is then normal that there are pocket editions. Few things survive from this publisher, " ex officina Janssonnio Waesbergiana ", who seems to have been active in the second part of the 17th century. Vellum binding without decoration in excellent condition.
