This vreccale, also known as an ‘anti-wolf collar’, consists of a wide strip of thick leather to which seventeen iron spikes or nails are attached.
These collars, typical of pastoral life, were worn by sheepdogs to protect their throats from the bites of wolves that might attack flocks of sheep.
It is accompanied by a harness or bridle.
