One of her hands is raised towards the sky in a symbolic gesture, as if to support a celestial or sacred element. Wood, natural patina, signs of use. Good general condition of conservation (see photos). India, 19th century. Dimensions: Height: 35 cm, width: 4.8 cm, depth: 8 cm. Sold with certificate of authenticity from expert Serge Reynes. Guarantee of origin and period. This statuette of the goddess Durga, an emblematic figure of Hindu mythology, embodies protective force and divine power. She is depicted holding a gada, a traditional Indian club symbolizing strength and authority, often associated with protective deities. The goddess' dynamic posture, her multi-row necklace, the floral amulet, and her tiered crown demonstrate refined sculptural know-how. Her gesture, one hand raised toward the sky, seems to convey a spiritual connection, a divine call, or an act of support for a celestial kingdom.
